Chronicles of Ardenthal

Heart in Chains

After the fire, the true price begins.

Ardenthal has survived, but survival has not become peace. The king has returned, the wounds are still open, and at court a quiet struggle begins over power, guilt, and memory. Princess Alina suddenly stands at the center of an order she never chose. What begins as duty becomes a decision about freedom, love, and the question of who owns a life when an entire kingdom tries to place a price upon it.

Heart in Chains tells of chains not made of iron, but of contracts, expectations, fear, and courteous violence. A dark medieval fantasy story about political intrigue, forbidden closeness, and the courage not to become small where others want obedience.

Episodes

Episode 10

After the Fire

After the return to Ardenthal, the courtyard still carries the weight of smoke, blood, grief, and unanswered questions. The king is alive, the prisoners have come home, and yet nothing has returned to what it was. Wounds must be tended, names must be written down, and the people of Ardenthal must learn what it means to survive something that cannot simply be left behind.

Episode 11

What Returns

After the rescue, Ardenthal tries to settle back into its old shape, but nothing truly fits anymore. The wounded are home, the king is alive, and the courtyard has been cleaned, yet the traces of captivity, loss, and fear remain in every room.

Episode 12

Between Court and Stable

As the kingdom tries to find its rhythm again, Princess Alina begins to understand that survival has left marks on everyone. The writing room is quieter now, yet the letters have not become easier. Families still search for names, the wounded still need care, and the court begins to turn gratitude, grief, and public memory into something politically useful.

Episode 13

The Demand from the West

When Count Veyren arrives from Kronwacht, Ardenthal receives him with clean stones, polished manners, and carefully arranged order. But Princess Alina quickly understands that the envoy has not come only to offer congratulations on King Arvid’s return.

Episode 14

Heart in Chains

After two days of careful waiting, Count Veyren presents Kronwacht’s proposal to Ardenthal. It is wrapped in courtesy, friendship, honor, and promises of safety, but beneath the polished words lies something far more dangerous. Princess Alina is to marry Prince Elric of Kronwacht, the second son of King Donald.

Episode 15

The Days of Decision

After Kronwacht’s marriage proposal, Ardenthal begins to calculate. Debt, grain, trade routes, protection, military weakness, and political survival are weighed against one another, while Princess Alina slowly realizes that she appears in every calculation, even when no one says her name.

Episode 16

No Place for Us

As old contracts reveal how Kronwacht’s influence first entered Ardenthal, the court begins to understand how easily political truth can be reduced to a simpler story. If Alina says no, her reasons may be buried beneath one name: Matthis.

Episode 17

The Refusal

In the great hall of Ardenthal, Princess Alina finally gives Kronwacht its answer. Count Veyren has come with promises of protection, trade, debt relief, builders, and political security, but behind the beautiful words lies a demand that would turn Alina’s life into a bridge for Donald’s power.

Episode 18

The Judgment

Only two days after Alina publicly rejects Kronwacht’s marriage proposal, Donald’s answer reaches Ardenthal. It comes too quickly to be a true response and too cleanly to be anything but prepared. The letter does not openly demand punishment, but beneath its polished words lies a clear command: Alina must be removed from the political center of Ardenthal.

Episode 19

Beyond Ardenthal

On the morning of her departure, there are no drums, no public proclamation, and no grand farewell in the courtyard. Ardenthal does not want to give the exile too much shape. But every stone, every room, every familiar path makes the truth clearer. Princess Alina is being sent away.
